Attended one such event last year (1h race of 2-driver teams) at KartPlanet (you surely know that place Wink ) - we got a bad kart for the race and finished rather low (11/13).
Did not attend any other event since then, but I intended to come back.

In all honesty, the LFS demo has plenty of content already.
Unlimited time and full online access to 3 cars and 3 tracks is A LOT for what is meant to be a "free tryout".
If you want more cars, tracks and other features, buy the S1/S2/S3 licence to support the developers, or try to win a voucher in one of many contests held on demo servers (There is one right now running on MRc servers all September long, you may give it a try).

Actually, yes. Do multiple races with "success ballast" system instead - it doesnt require any plugin and drivers will know how big performance penalty they actually earned.
Season 5 version

Hello racers.

First of all, thanks for all your positive comments Smile

As you probably noticed, the circuit used in the latest Formula E season was slightly different to the Season 4 version I originally posted. Some things moved and other things moved as well, so I spent some extra time to cover those changes to keep the layout up-to-date.

Therefore here is:

Season 5 Formula E's New York E-Prix circuit

The layout looks pretty much the same, but there are few major changes that may have changed the nature of the track a little:

- The finish line moved from its original place (next to original pitlane) to the actual grid area
- The pitlane moved as well - now it sits next to the main straight and it actually looks like a pitlane (very narrow one though)
- The turn 10 (used to be turn 1) got reproffiled - now the approach is shorter and the turn itself is much wider, making it better opportunity to pass

Apart from these, the nearby environment in the form of bridges and grandstands got updated as well.

This is, what the recent track looked like:

As always, the car to try out is FOX, which has the closest specifications to actual Formula E Gen 2 cars.

Last but not least, this sunday (11th of August) we will attempt to recreate whole Formula E race format in the Absolute Beginners racing League.

What's fair on punishing successful drivers? Besides that, this "catch-up"/"rubberbanding" feature is the most hated thing in arcade racing games...

If you really want to artificially keep cars together, just ask faster drivers to slow down or deploy safety car every second lap.

Maybe (probably) it was already discussed somewhere before but with the possible coming of new tire physics and day-night cycle, could the on-track conditions in LFS become a little more dynamic?
Right now, everything is static (same air temperature, same wind intensity in the same direction,...) - could be there something as simple as having wind changing the direction and speed in set time intervals (some guys already did it via insim) and air temperatures raise and drop as the day passes (affecting tire temps)? Surely the car should behave differently in the day and in the night.

Quote from gu3st :That was a fun layout in OEC. Hopefully it has a real pitlane (although I loved the T3 pitlane solution Big grin

That pitlane was epic Big grin but the risk of possible heavy collision between cars exiting pitlane and cars on the racing line was very nightmarish Uhmm

As electric cars produce maximal torque across whole rev spectrum, the gearbox for keeping revs in optimal range is not necessary. Therefore they usually only have one fixed gear for any speed (although some experimental/racing crafts can have high/low gear four whatever reason).

The penultimate race of 2018/2019 Formula E season in New York was very eventful as you can see in the Highlights video.

The final round on this exact track starts in less than 2 and half hours, the championship fight is still open and I highly recommend you to watch it. Here you can find how: https://www.fiaformulae.com/en/watch/ways-to-watch

Note: This year's layout is slightly different to the one from last season, I will cover all modifications and release updated version of the layout soon. Wink

Quote from MandulAA :That's a great idea. Also, it would be great to see race starts, finishes, maybe even yellow flags automatically marked on the replay timeline. Smile

Race start is usually at the beginning of the replay and finish at the very end of it (unless the mpr is saved significantly later) Razz Big grin

But user-defined timestamps would be awesome though

New York E-Prix circuit replica

Gentlemen...

After almost 100 hours of spent personal time, thousands of measurements and calculations, lots of careful judgement and after reaching the object count limit...

I'm proud to present you the new hyper-realistic replica of:

Formula E's New York E-Prix circuit

This unique street circuit was first used in the third season of the Formula E championship in it's short version. Year later the series returned to Brooklyn's port once again to race there on this longer version for the second time.

The track is 2374 meters long and only 8 to 12 meters wide. It has 14 turns and pretty much no runoff areas, so keeping the car in a good shape is very challenging.

How close to reality is this thing you may ask? Surely I can be biased, so you'd better take a look at these pictures and judge it by yourself Thumbs up

This replica has GUARANTEED a sub-meter placement accuracy for all objects and boundaries.

Unfortunately, due to reaching the limit of 2100 objects, only half of the track have its realistic lifelike nearby environment, while the other half has only the bare minimum to ensure realistic racing experience.

The track is loaded on [MRc] Custom server for online testing purposes.
Feel free to join and spam the leaderboard with your laptimes to earn the never-ending fame.

Recommended car to try out is FOX, which is quite close to Gen 1 Formula E's specifications (it's less powerful, but also way lighter, so in the end it has slightly higher power-to-weight ratio than the first generation Formula E car and does similar laptimes).

Can you beat the Formula E track record of 1:13,207 set by Mitch Evans? Uhmm

Notes:

As the layout is elevated in the air, please keep in mind the track surface is concrete instead of regular tarmac - your car may handle little differently.

Default grid can accommodate 22 cars, but for event purposes grid slots can be added as usual.

Feel free to use this layout for any purpose you like, but please avoid heavy editing and branding the track as your work.
Thank you.

Do you accept "external" layouts? I'm currently working on very accurate copy of New York E-Prix track used in Formula E season finale, it could provide interesting race.

Maybe unusual thing, but I'd like to make a protest against myself.

End of lap 3 or 4, don't know exact time.
Katila was in 4th with me right behind him.
Entering the penultimate corner (before pit entry) I made absolutely stupid and unnecessary maneuver onto his inside that forced him off the track and into the lamp post, pretty much ending his chances for any good result.
I know this was not any kind of serious race event, but I feel like I totally deserve some sort of post-race penalty or points deduction for this...
"reset time" command
michal 1279
S3 licensed
So for quite a while we have /zero_all command that resets the amount of laps driven in the race, which is useful in classic races with formation lap followed by standing start.
However, in time-based endurance races, where rolling starts are more common/desirable, the time starts running as soon as lights go green, and therefore the formation lap is counted into the overal race duration, which is pretty much shorter by a formation lap because of that.

So my suggestion is simple: could we have a command (let's say /time_reset) that would reset the time back to the starting value? The time would then either start running again immendiately, or (more desired version) as soon as the leader starts another lap.

In that way 3h race would last 3hours instead of 2 hours and 58 minutes.
Surely not a world-saving idea, but could be nice to have...

5th Version (Deleted the rest)

Will be using this, unless I find more time to work on it.

Will make future changes based on how well, or poorly, it works.

Very good vid Thumbs up

May I suggest adding little texts next to some physical buttons on the steering wheel? (especially engine/TC/pitlimiter/handbrake stuff) - I think people will otherwise struggle to remember position of each function.

Quote from k_badam :I would say these sausage curbs need to be much higher to solve the cutting issue that corner currently has, from this angle it looks like I could easily drive over them without any issues. I think something similar to Rockingham is good for height i would say, if not a tad too tall.

Why to drive over them?

I see some new chalk lines, assuming there will be chicanes in that place - Will be they used in KY2/KY3, or will these tracks stay as they are and chicanes would be part of new track configurations?
